CSA Youthshare Program

What is it?

Started in the 2009 season, our YouthShare Program allows local young people to bring home healthy food to their families in exchange for volunteer service to the CSA. You’ve seen them around, delivering shares, setting up the tent, and watching over distribution, and we’re hoping to continue the program in this and future seasons.

Who?

Our YouthShare members live or attend school locally. In exchange for about 20 hours of service, they get a half vegetable share. Last year we worked with six students from Benjamin Banneker High School. We hope to be able to sponsor four YouthShare members this season

Meet our volunteers from last year.

Why?

Here at the CSA we want to make things affordable for our neighbors – that’s why we offer sliding scale prices, payment plans, and accept EBT. This is another way to fulfill our commitment to making our shares accessible to all families in our community.

How can you help?

Make a donation! This program is made possible with support from members like you! We know you’re committed to Food Justice in Fort Greene, and this is another way to show that support. On this year’s membership form, you’ll see a donation line for the YouthShare Program.

Even just $10 would help up to reach our goal of raising $650 for this program. If you have any questions, please email CSA Coordinator
Cambra Moniz Edwards (csa@fortgreenecsa.org) or 347-458-7042.
